Pay Range: $120,000. -156,500.

SUMMARY

The traits needed to be a successful Division Controller are drive to be the best, leadership, and a passion to make a difference while adding value to a company.  This role should be a key contributor to our management team.  Reporting to the CFO, the Division Controller will need to listen to the team, learn our business processes, then perform results-oriented actions in support of our philosophy of continuous improvement.  Core to the position is managing the day-to-day accounting operations and month end close.  This position will be responsible for understanding how operations affects the financial results, effectively communicating findings, and problem solving with management and other departments.  The Division Controller will maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
  • Learn current business processes
  • Analyze the organization’s income and expenditures to support decision making
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for 5 or more companies
  • Manage and develop staff performing accounting duties
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, regulations and tax laws
  • Oversee month end close and budget planning, including budget to actual comparatives
  • Prepare and approve journal entries
  • Prepare management reports as needed

  • Special projects and/or other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & SKILLS

Knowledge of:
  • QB and Microsoft Office Products experience is highly desired
  • Dairy or Agriculture industry helpful

Ability to:

Skills:
Financial Analysis: Prepare financial analyses of operations including variance explanation and make recommendation to ensure the achievement of business goals/target

Budget: Budget responsibility and responsibility for setting strategic direction.

Critical Thinking: Forms good judgement when evaluating situations and reacting accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional certificate such as CPA, CMA or CFM preferred
  • Previous experience in a Controller role or practical training or experience is beneficial
  • At least eight years’ of senior accounting level experience or higher
  • Minimum five years’ preparing financial statements
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Excel
  • Valid California driver’s license and insurable DMV

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:  The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting for long periods of time and occasional driving to other locations; occasional bending or squatting; frequent decision-making and concentration; frequent co-worker and/or public contact; frequent working alone; occasional exposure to noise; frequent reading and close-up work.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Work might be performed off site and in plant locations on an occasional basis in a loud environment exposed to colder temperature.  Position may require overtime and weekend work.
