SUMMARY
The Bovine Genetics Distribution Technician is responsible for the accurate processing, packaging, and shipment of bovine semen to customers. This position blends laboratory precision with warehouse logistics and customer service. The ideal candidate brings an agricultural background, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently with cryogenic materials and sensitive genetic products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Order Fulfillment & Shipping
- Process and fulfill customer orders accurately, pulling the correct product from inventory.
- Package and prepare semen shipments using cryogenic dry shippers filled with liquid nitrogen.
- Coordinate with carriers to ensure on-time delivery and maintain accurate shipping documentation.
- Receive and inspect returned shipping tanks and record nitrogen levels upon return.
- Maintain accurate semen inventory and tank records.
- Monitor nitrogen levels in both storage and shipping tanks to ensure product safety.
- Follow strict biosecurity, handling, and safety protocols throughout all processes.
- Support laboratory and distribution teams with product tracking and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with production, lab, and customer service teams to meet daily shipping goals.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Maintain organized workspaces and contribute to process improvement discussions.
- Be flexible and willing to assist with other facility duties as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform related duties and/or special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Background in agriculture, livestock production, or bovine genetics strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) for order tracking and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license required; occasional product transport may be part of the role.
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and handle cryogenic tanks filled with liquid nitrogen.
- Comfortable working in cold environments and on your feet for extended periods.
