SUMMARY
The Senior Controls Technician will be responsible to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all electrical and mechanical equipment throughout all AFS feed mill and commodity facilities. They will work with vendors, plant managers, plant maintenance technicians, and project managers to ensure capital projects as well as day to day business operations function smoothly and efficiently. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Work from blueprints or schematics to perform maintenance, repair, or installation of equipment.
  • Complies with all safety policies, procedures and established safety practices, as well as quality assurance and regulatory programs
  • Maintains effective communication and works collaboratively with all departments
  • Provides technical and managerial expertise to solve problems, makes recommendations and oversees implementation of improvements
  • Maintains all required documentation and records, ensuring compliance and accuracy
  • Recommends capital improvement projects, equipment replacement and staffing levels
  • Will be the organizational subject matter expert on controls and control systems.  Must be able to implement, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all controls systems and components.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
  • Manufacturing/operations and industry methods, best practices, standards and procedures
  • Cal-OSHA regulations, procedures and requirements
  • AC variable frequency drives
  • Programmable logic controllers
  • 277 to 480V power supplies
  • Control systems and components
  • Project Management
Ability to:
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, plant teams, and vendors
  • Make complex decisions
  • Work independently and accomplish projects largely with little supervision
Minimum Job Requirements, Experience and Training Guidelines:
  • Three (3) plus years experience as a plant electrician or scale technician in a production environment
  • Strong managerial, analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements
  • Computer proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, timekeeping, production management and inventory control systems; SAP experience desired
  • California driver’s license and insurable DMV record
SPECIAL DEMANDS     
  • Frequent standing and/or long period of time on feet
  • Occasional bending, squatting and kneeling
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 75 pounds
  • Occasional grasping, holding and reaching
  • Constant use of overall vision
  • Frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions
  • Frequent co-worker contact; occasional working alone
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Available to respond to emergency calls; work weekends and/or holidays
  • Able to climb ladders/stairs up to heights in excess of 100’
Working conditions
  • Work may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperatures and a noisy environment
  • May be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust, and dusty, muddy and slick environment
  • Adhere to all PPE Guidelines as established by OSHA and the company
